Montague J. Rendall (1862 - 1950) served Winchester for thirty-seven years as classical master, Second Master and Headmaster at a time when the school was at the height of its reputation. One of the last Victorians, he strongly promoted the literary, moral and religious standards which he deemed of ultimate worth in the changing world and was considered by his contemporaries at Winchester to be among the greatest and best influences upon them.
